Time Out

8.22.09 ~ L laughing after she drank the water out of the bucket, Dayton
Is fourteen months of age to early to start time outs? We had a wonderful and VERY RELAXING weekend in Maine which ended with two time outs. We attended a birthday party on Saturday {Happy Birthday Adam and Abbey} and spent the rest of the weekend relaxing by the pool. By pool, I mean, L spent the rest of the weekend in the kiddie pool and had to be pulled away from it so we could go home {see photo at the end}.
Nothing says Maine like a summer afternoon outside with good company, a glass of wine, watching L play in the pool, her Ong Noi hanging laundry and the sounds of the insects in the fields. I could do this every day or at least every weekend.

L also enjoyed her time with the "doag" and "ca" also known as dog and cat. She was curious about them and whined when she wanted to pet Balto, but was too afraid to do it. It’s the fear and curiosity at work. She also waited her turn to put …

8.01.09 ~ Van & Tuan's Wedding, New Jersery

L doesn't say much, but she does know how to express herself. I love the picture above. This is L's personality. L understands everything we say and tells us exactly what she needs using body language, pointing or showing us what she wants, and a few words...this, that, sshhhh (shoes). Dave loves that her first word besides Mum and Dad-te is SIT. She hears it often when she's in the bath tub and when putting on her shoes.
She fights sleep, but knows when I say it's bedtime. She waddles to the stairs and once I get the gate open she climbs the stairs. Once we're at the top, I ask her where she wants to go to bed. She heads to the room she wants to sleep in. Last night she wanted to sleep in her room and tonight it was our room.
Below are a few photos from last weekend. We went to Alex's party...aka Dave's crazy friend, Alex. L just loves water and playing dominoes with the boys. I also need to always carry a…

Life after Vacation

8.03.09 ~ L being playful, PuntaCana

We've been home for a week and life is back to our normal schedule (for the most part). If only the lazy and care-free feel of vacation could be bottle to be used as often as needed. In the week we've been home, L has cut three new teeth with one more about to break through and we've had to get her fitted for new shoes.

For L teething means needing more comfort and she get the typical teething symptoms...drooling, coughing, chin rash, BITING {her favorite, my finger}, less sleep and irregular bowel movements. L loves to bit my finger when she's teething. I won't mind so much if her teeth weren't so sharp. Dave will try to let L use his finger but she refuses it. She goes for mine.

L refuses to wear clothes and takes her shoes off at every opportunity. She kept whining about her shoes and so I suspected her shoes are getting tight. When we went to get her feet sized today I found out her right foot is 1 size better than the oth…
