+ 1 CM

the crew installing a new roof

I had my weekly doctor's appointment today. We're slowly progressing...1 more centimeter (up to 4 now). I’m hoping it’s this weekend not because I am uncomfortable but just anxious. The doctor said if she had to make a guess it would be a day or two.

Last week, when I got the news I was 3 cm dilated; I was hoping the baby would come that weekend. The baby was not ready. I tried to relax most of the weekend, but who can relax when you get calls from Tel Aviv asking for reports and there’s a work crew at the house. Our neighbor’s comments are, “New baby, new roof. Life’s good.” I can’t disagree.

As I was heading to the doctor’s office, waiting for an elevator. This sweet old woman says to me, “It’s almost time.” I said, “Yes.” She then says, “It will change your life for the better.” Then another woman chimes in, “until they are teenagers.” I’m thinking I’ll handle the teenage thing when it comes. Right now, I just want to deliver a healthy baby.

Almost There

It seems the babies are ready to come into the world. Our neighbors, Tracy & Andrew welcomed their son in the world last Friday. Ben weighted 10.1 lbs at birth. My co-worker Jean and her husband, Jeff welcomed their son into the world yesterday. Vincenzo was born two weeks early and weighted 8.5 lbs at birth.

I’m on week 37 and 20 days remain before my due date and I was shocked to hear what the doctor said today at my appointment. Over the weekend, I was that the mall walking around and felt like the baby was about to drop. I had been experiencing more contraction, but didn’t think much about it…thinking it was normal.

I was asking the doctor all the questions I had been mentally storing. I described to her what I have been feeling lately and she thought it would be best if she check my cervix. Well, come to find out I am now 3 cm dilated. I was shocked to hear the news and that I could deliver a couple of weeks early. Dave mentioned this past weekend that I should p…

Sweet Husband

Mother's Day for me had a new element to it. Yesterday morning there was a card on the dining room table for me. I didn't notice the card, but my sweet husband hinted there was something on the table for me. I couldn't have wished or dreamed of a better partner in my life who will journey with me through life as a friend, husband and parent.

Week 35

Week 35

It’s week 35 with 34 days left…pretty amazing. The discussion around our house has been the changes that we should expect (most will say everything!). Deposits have been made for day care in September, we/(I) have narrowed down our pediatrician choice, we’ve signed up for the hospital tour (it’s next week) and my maternity leave plan has been put into motion. My co-worker and I spent the first two days of this week interviewing candidates to fill in for me while I am out for three months on leave.

Lately, I’ve noticed Dave staring at my stomach more often. Of course, I ask him, “What’s up?” He can’t believe how big my stomach has gotten and can’t imagine how I can get any bigger or carry a baby in my little body. We go back to our early day discussions of my pregnancy and the size of my belly…he was in awe then and now he’s even more so.
